Abstract
The EMC Society of IEEE celebrated in 2007 its 50th anniversary while the IEEE celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2009. The IEEE EMC Society has undergone revolutionary changes evolving from the ldquogarbage of Electronicsrdquo to an intersystem, interdisciplinary and global concern during this period. The increased complexity due to the proliferation of electronics in all walks of life requires that EMC efforts be implemented globally, thorugh international, transnational and global cooperative efforts. The EMC Society of the IEEE serves a major role in ensuring global (electromagnetic) compatibility. Only through global outreach and cooperation can these goals be achieved.
