Abstract
In this paper we report the development of a low- cost uncooled Mini-DIL module designed for EDFA pump lasers. The 980-nm Mini-DIL pump laser is attractive because it offers the advantages of lower cost, smaller footprint, minimal heat generation, and reduced electrical power consumption. We describe the module elements, the packaging methods and the results of coupling efficiency and the thermal behavior of the first prototype. Comparison with commercial devices is also included.
