Abstract
In this work, a study about the influence of the electrical characteristics and of the filling constants of a periodic structure on photonic band gaps (PBGs) is performed. The band gaps are analyzed through the transmission coefficient of the scattering matrix. This open scattering problem was numerically solved through the finite differences time domain method (FDTD) and truncated by implementing the uniaxial perfectly matched layers (U-PML) formulation.
