Abstract
Although bandpass sampling potentially provides higher performance of SDRs than the baseband one, conventional technique does not allow realizing all its advantages. Comparative analysis of conventional bandpass sampling and sampling with internal antialiasing filtering shows that the latter makes possible this realization. It enables digitization close to the antenna and significant improvement in dynamic range, adaptivity, reconfigurability, and scale of integration of SDRs. Although ways of this sampling technique implementation are different for SDRs intended for reception of one or a few signals at a time and for SDRs intended for simultaneous reception of many signals, it is equally advantageous for both types of SDRs.
