Abstract
Real-time video monitoring is necessary for remote control mining while real-time positioning of underground equipments is also necessary for unmanned mining. In this paper, a new pattern combining WLAN with ZigBee is proposed to solute the two problems above. In the pattern, RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) values of ZigBee anchor nodes are used to calculate the position and posture of underground equipments, while WLAN is applied to transmit the video monitoring data, the position and posture data and the remote controlling command. The pattern takes advantage of not only the WLAN´s high bandwidth but also the ZigBee devices´ low power consumption and low price. According to it, a wireless network communication system is constructed and works well under the in-door simulating environment.
