Abstract :
Regression test selection (RTS) techniques select and retest a subset of the existing test suite aiming at reducing the cost and improving the efficiency of the regression testing during maintenance of evolving software. Safe RTS technique, which is one of the most important approaches of a wide variety of RTS techniques, is focused on the selective strategy from safety aspect. In this paper, we restrict our eyes on the evolutional adaption of safe RTS techniques with the evolving software. A framework for classifying safe RTS techniques based on multidimensional viewpoint is presented. The set of conditions required for safety adaptively with the multidimensional viewpoint is emphasized. Several representative approaches based on the proposed classification are assessed. And some future potential research trends are discussed.
