Abstract :
To improve luminance, a direct-view structure has been introduced for surface discharge PDPs. A white reflection layer, a white partition, and an optimum thick phosphor are used. To reduce panel surface reflectance, a black partition is used. Consequently, 130 cd/m/sup 2/ peak surface average white luminance, 0.50 lm/W luminous efficiency, and 13.1 contrast ratio under 100-lx room light are achieved.<>
