  • Abstract
    Since secondary users (SUs) should vacate the channel immediately after detecting the reappearance of primary users (PUs) in cognitive radio networks (CRNs), the route reliability is a distinctive challenge for routing in CRNs. Furthermore, it is preferable to select a route with less negative influence on other current or latish sessions, while meeting the throughput requirement of an SU session. To investigate the challenges of route reliability, we study the channel assignment problem for a route in CRNs with less negative influence. A channel assignment scheme is proposed to choose the available channel for obtaining a new route with better reliability and near-optimal route throughput while minimizing negative influence on other existing routes. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves considerable improvement over existing schemes in both route reliability and throughput.
