Abstract :
The rapid growth of information network technology that led to globalization and leaner organization has made knowledge an important asset. For a business organization to remain on competition, there is a need to acquire knowledge according to the context of their business. This is particularly true in the product design field because designers frequently use images and drawings containing semantics level and task models extensively. Therefore it will be advantageous for design task performances if the designer is able to describe the conceptual and semantic level of these pictures. Another challenge is to transform this information into knowledge that can be reused and shared in some design sections or business communities. This paper describes knowledge creation through an information organizing system that is based on ontology to represent these task models and the use of images as the key to information retrieval. XML is used as a tool to build the ontology
