Abstract :
The transmission line conductor sag has a direct effect on the intensity of magnetic fields in the neighborhood of power lines. Several factors are known to contribute to the temperature of the power line conductors which, in turn, influences the resulting line sag, namely, line loading, ambient temperature, solar irradiation and wind speed. The probabilistic nature of these factors will reflect on the line sag and consequently on the prevailing magnetic fields. This paper considers those factors and examines possible random variations in their values and the subsequent effect on magnetic fields
