Abstract :
The finite volume time domain (FVTD) technique was used to analyze scattering by metal objects in a GHz-TEM cell. The technique discretizes the analyzed space with nonorthogonal cells in which curl Maxwell´s equations are represented. The nonorthogonal grid provides a good representation of objects without the staircase approximation typical of the finite difference time domain. The normalized electric field distribution on the transverse section of the GHz-TEM was compared with measurements, and the distribution of normalized current density on the scatterer was compared with that indicated in the literature
