Abstract :
In this paper, a simple technique to realize frequency quadrupling and upconversion in a radio over fiber (RoF) link is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The frequency quadrupling is achieved by a single-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) which is biased at the peak of the transmission curve and driven by a radio frequency (RF) signal with an amplitude swing of ~3.06Vπ, where Vπ is the half-wave voltage of the MZM.
