Abstract :
It is very important for the emergency patient or chronic diseased patient to measure and acquire continuously vital sign. However, not only the hospital inside but also outside, the continuous measurement of the vital sign of patient is very difficult and the research about this is insufficient. To solve this problem, we developed the universal and portable monitoring system for continuous measurement of the vital sign of patient. Developed system in this paper is composed of wireless body area sensor network including wireless vital sign measurement device (ECG, SpO2 etc) and the portable gateway device. Especially, the portable gateway device retransmits the vital sign transmitted from body area sensor network to hospital through optionally using WLAN or CDMA 1x EV-DO networks. Moreover, because vital sign is measured and acquired into huge memory card in the region of the limited network, this system can continuously measure vital sign. In addition to this, communication between the wireless vital sign measurement device and the portable gateway device uses TDMA (time division multiple access) method for high reliability of the vital sign which needs transmitting by period.
