Abstract :
In this paper, diversity performances are examined in terms of correlation coefficient and diversity gain. Two dipole antennas are simulated. 3D radiation patterns of each dipole at various separation distances are collected to compute correlation coefficients and diversity gains. The contribution of magnitudes and phases of coupled radiation patterns to correlation coefficients and diversity gains improvements are studied. Unlike switch recombination, for highly closed dipoles, more than magnitudes, phases play mayor roles in the de-correlation and the diversity gain improvement processes when using maximum ratio combining (MRC). Later, switch diversity gains are compared with statistical and theoretical computations. Such a comparison showed a good agreement between both values.
