Abstract :
Over the last decade, there has been considerable development of multi-beam antenna capability spanning multiple frequency bands and multiple technologies. The paper will discuss the different antenna technologies: The conventional multi-spot reflectors, array-fed reflectors with beam-forming, and direct radiating phased arrays. The different techniques of beam-forming: analog, digital-onboard and ground based beam-forming, will be discussed. Typical examples using the different technologies will be discussed.
