Abstract :
This paper presents the specification and design of RGP, a reliable, sequenced, token-based protocol for group communication in DINIX, RGP (Reliable Group Communciation Protocol) is being implemented using the UNIX System V STREAMS mechanism, enabling users to access the protocol via the standard Transport Layer Interface (TLI) routines. An advantage of implementing RGP using the STREAMS mechanism is that it enables reuse of existing link layer network drivers and internetworking software, resulting in substantial savings in product development time
