Abstract
To protect MPEG video streams with minimum overhead, SECMPEG which encrypts data selectively has been proposed. With the announcement of a multi-core embedded processor, we need to consider an efficient parallelization of SECMPEG on a multi-core processor whose architectural characteristics may be different from those of parallel computers. After analyzing both the architectural characteristics of the multi-core processor and the computational characteristics of SECMPEG, an almost perfect speed-up can be obtained on a 4-core processor.
