Abstract
Very accurate simulation results are required to evaluate the shadowing effects caused by wind turbines, which may easily influence the range of operation of a radar system. Thus, the accuracy of the simulations plays an important role in such studies. However, real scenarios are generally much too complex for full-wave methods but can be treated using high-frequency simulations. This paper focuses on wind turbine simulations using a ray tracing approach, and evaluates the accuracy of results by comparison with a full-wave method in a simple environment.
