Abstract :
In this work the response of a phased-array antenna at a blind spot condition is enhanced by using a metamaterial based radome. By taking advantage of metamaterials one might be able to design ad-hoc impedance matching slab with uncommon constitutive parameters. To this end, classical transmission line models and novel retrieval techniques have been applied during the design process. Numerical and measurement results show an improvement at the blind spot angle direction when the metaradome is attached to the antenna.
