Abstract :
This paper deals with the modelling and simulation of a synchronous motor fed by a cycloconverter. The cycloconverter synchronous motor system model developed allows the commutations between thyristors to be taken into account, and the discontinuities of the stator currents possible due to opening of stator phases. The cycloconverter model simplifies the computation of the output voltage of the cycloconverter. The synchronous motor model is a multi-loop model, which treats the damper winding as several equivalent damper circuits symmetrical to the D- or Q-axis. Some simulation and test results are also presented
