Abstract :
H.264 is a complex and feature rich standard. Its features have vastly different occurrences rates in typical HD sequences. Design effort as well as system resources should be directed at high occurring features and not wasted on low occurring ones. Profiling experiments are conducted to analyze the statistical characteristics of sequences. Based on the analysis results, implementation strategies are proposed.
