Abstract
This paper presents findings of our full-wave simulation study of electromagnetic wave propagation properties in typical underground continuous coal mining tunnel environments. It discusses different wave mechanisms involved as well as several different novel wave-launching concepts such as water-filled dielectric rod antenna, ceiling bolt monopole array, and end-fired array on the arm of cutting drum.
