Abstract :
The Minit Charger(R) ultra fast battery charging technique has been applied to electric vehicles by Norvik since 1991, with very good results: savings of time, of energy, utilization of full battery capacity, and significantly extended battery life. Efforts have been aimed at further refinements of this technology and on implementation of the concept of total energy management (TEM) leading to high battery energy throughput and long service life. This paper focuses on application of Minit Charger to electric transit bus operation, a demonstration project within the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District
