E-Campus in Xiamen University: The Past, Present and the Hopeful Future

E-Campus has greater and greater roles in universities around the world. This paper discusses the E-Campus development in Xiamen University in the past, the present and the future. By analyzing its functionalities, some insufficiencies such as organizational insufficiency, ineffective information management, lack of maintenance planning, lack of a sustainable investment mechanism, insufficient involvement of university project team, lack of management process readjustment are pointed out. Future improvement and investment should be based on the management of these insufficiencies. To offer solutions to informatization, some suggestions which could be a way forward to the improvement of E-campus planning and development in universities are demonstrated.
