Abstract :
The optimisation of regular and irregular TWTs for efficiency when no backward radiation exists in the input, has been carried out on the basis of the general theory of excitation. In a TWT with regular corrugation the possible efficiency reaches 25%, while in a TWT with the optimized corrugation profile the efficiency is between 40-70%.
