Abstract :
Blind patients can feel visual percepts by controlled electrical stimulation to the retina. However, only hundreds of pixels/electrodes of retinal implant may restore low-resolution vision for unaided mobility and large print reading in contrast to the over 100,000,000 photoreceptors in a healthy retina. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance this limited perception by means of image processing. Android is an open source platform for mobile devices released by Open Handset Alliance (OHA) hosting members like Google, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, etc. Android architecture is very suitable for image processing researching. In this paper, we implement bilinear interpolation algorithm on Android which is a frequently used image resampling algorithm for retinal prosthesis. Our work shows that Android can be a energy efficient tool for researchers to develop their algorithms.
