Abstract
This paper investigates the teaching methods for the experimental courses of computer hardware. It presents systematically the strategies developed by the author during years of teaching experiences. The paper first describes how to improve the teaching quality and efficiency by training the students to follow good experimental practices and thereby to enhance their experimental skills. Then, it discusses the teaching models and approaches for confirmatory and integration experiments. Finally, it presents how to inspire students to use the learned theoretical knowledge to guide their experiments, in order to analyze and solve problems encountered during the experiments. The strategies and experiences presented in the paper will significantly enhance the students´ capability of data analysis, hardware design, and system implementation, and help them to build up a solid knowledge foundation in the computer hardware.
