Abstract :
PVUSA recently expanded its evaluation and training capabilities with the implementation of a small system test center (SSTC). The addition of these residential/small commercial PV power systems will complement PVUSA´s historical emphasis on larger PV systems. PVUSA will use the SSTC to test systems and components and to provide training to utility personnel, construction and fire inspectors, and other interested parties. Initially, three different 4 kW (nominal) systems have been installed with others to follow. This paper discusses the purpose and characteristics of the SSTC and provides results from initial testing including system ratings and power quality
