Abstract :
With the rapid development of economy and continuous improvement of people´s purchase ability in China, the motor vehicles ownership is increasing rapidly, so as the traffic accidents and traffic death toll, which make the road traffic situation in China worse and worse. According to data on the national road traffic accidents from 1990 to 2007, the characteristics of road traffic accidents in China are summarized, such as high fatality rate, and freeway traffic accident ratio, high incidence districts in developed areas, as well as the new drivers becomes the main liability subjects in accidents. Further more, the occurrence mechanism and macro regularity of road traffic accident are analyzed and studied, from the components of road traffic system and their interactions. On this basis, aiming at reducing the number of traffic accidents, this paper gives suggestions to enhance people´s awareness on road and traffic safety, formulate scientific and rational road traffic safety management plan, further improve traffic accident emergency rescue system, and coordination of the relationship among people, vehicles, and environmental factors. This study could provide certain reference function and some guidance in raising the overall level of traffic safety management and the road safety renovation.
