Abstract
Starting notch geometry parameters are key factors affecting fracture splitting quality. As usually used materials in engine crankshaft bearing block, both gray Cast Iron HT150 and ductile iron QT500-7 are selected in this paper. The influence of starting notch geometry parameters on separation force are analyzed by using ABAQUS software. To reduce the separation force in fracture splitting process and improve splitting quality, the optimum parameters including open angle α, notch depth h and curvature radius r have been identified. This paper provides theoretical basis for application of fracture splitting technology for engine crankshaft bearing block.
