Abstract
Designing massive, parallel applications, for the Grid, poses a totally different and unique set of challenges for the grid application developers. This paper describes Gridhra, , a dasiagrid-awarepsila parallel debugger designed to cater to the grid specific challenges in debugging. The remote parallel debugger is Web based and is deployed using the Web Launch architecture. Gridhra supports debugging of MPICH-G2 applications running on a Globus enabled Grid. It supports the standard source debugging features and offers various features that cater to the specific challenges faced by the Grid Application Developers. The tool provides Process grouping mechanisms which allow the end user to effectively debug a collective set of processes in a multiprocess application. Through the usage of Job URLs,Gridhra offers the ability to debug different processes belonging to the same application, from geographically distributed locations. Gridhra also offers unique Notification Mechanisms, which aid in addressing the challenges related to debugging long running real applications on the grid.
