Abstract
Mobile WiMAX based on OFDM technology has been implemented in several countries at 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz bands. OFDM technology promises high throughput based on availability of good signal strength and CINR which helps to achieve higher modulation coding gain. MIMO is an additional technology which enhances the throughput further. In the present study, an WiMAX installation was taken at a green field area. Spectral efficiency obtained established a definite relationship with CINR in regions with good signal strength. OFDM Spectral efficiency has been compared with CDMA-EVDO and GSM-EDGE technologies. Obtained results can be used by engineers as thumb rule to assess throughput at a location from knowledge of RSSI and CINR and deployed technology.
