Abstract :
We consider a radar system which uses an array of antennas, and is capable of adjusting the waveform transmitted through these antennas based on target and clutter statistics, on a pulse by pulse basis. A model for the radar returns which incorporates the transmit waveforms is developed. The target detection problem is formulated for that model. An algorithm is derived for designing the transmit waveform so as to optimize detection performance.
