Abstract :
The method of visible albedo threshold was applied to retrieve a case of sea fog occurred over the Bohai Sea and the northern of Yellow Sea and adjoin areas at 21th Feb 2007 in the daytime with MTSAT-1R satellite visible channel data, and characteristic quantity of sea fog such as the optical thickness, liquid water path, effective radius, height of fog top and visibility were computed. Comparisons with conventional surface and sounding observation data show that the optimal albedo threshold is 0.18, and the retrieved height of fog top is reasonable but visibility is relative lower.
