Abstract
Due to the various kinds of business requirements, the next generation wireless network should be able to coordinate and integrate different communication systems. In this situation, predicting the location of a mobile wireless user is an inherently interesting and challenging issue. We propose a mobility prediction mechanism based on logistic cells (MPMboLC) in heterogeneous wireless network. MPMboLC can address the problem of mobility prediction in heterogeneous networks. Thus this mechanism makes that almost every existing mobility prediction algorithm can be implemented on this MPMboLC mechanism in heterogeneous networks. The mobility prediction is very important for both homogeneous networks and heterogeneous networks, driven by applications in mobility management, call admission control, smooth handoffs, and resource reservation for improved quality of service. Moreover, recognizing existing resources, we propose an implement of the mechanism. We also test the realizability and performance of MPMboLC in heterogeneous network environment by the simulator.
