Abstract :
This paper presents a T-connected transformer based 24-pulse AC-DC converter for low-voltage, high current applications. The design of a 12-pulse AC-DC converter is carried out and it is modified to a 24-pulse AC-DC converter by pulse multiplication technique. It improves the power quality at AC mains to meet IEEE-519 standard at varying loads. To demonstrate the advantage of proposed converter in terms of power quality, its modeling and simulations are carried out in MATLAB along with power system blockset (PSB) toolbox. A set of prototypes of 12-pulse and 24-pulse AC-DC converters is developed to validate the design and model of these converters.
