Abstract
In this paper we discuss the strategy behind and implementation of the joint engineering degree programmes offered by Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and Queen Mary, University of London (QM). These programmes, taught exclusively in English and entirely in Beijing lead to students gaining a degree from each university; they are also the only degree programmes of this kind officially approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and they are especially designed to equip Chinese students to be leading engineers in the future.
