  • Abstract
    Analytical expressions for the stability condition and numerical dispersion of the FDTD method have been obtained. We focused on the solution of Mathieu equation for the case of TE oblique incidence on a dielectric slab whose effective permittivity has been sinusoidally modulated along the direction of propagation. This could be the first analytical discussion of stability and numerical dispersion for FDTD scheme in a sinusoidally stratified medium.
