Abstract
A novel compact printed antenna fed by CPW (coplanar waveguide) is proposed for UWB (Ultra-wideband) applications in this paper. The radiator of the proposed monopole antenna is a semi-circular patch, which has the potential to achieve ultra-wideband characteristics. A pair of line-to-arc transition patch structure is introduced along the two edges of the substrate as the ground. The limited area around the radiator can be effectively used to achieve miniaturization. Measured results show good agreement with the simulation. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is only 25mm×25mm×1.5mm, with stable H-plane omni-directional radiation patterns, VSWR<;2 and constant group delay over the bandwidth of 3-16.6GHz, which proves to be a miniaturized UWB antenna with great time-domain characteristics.
