Abstract :
Presently, the IEEE 802.11s task group is defining a set of specifications for a wireless mesh standard based on IEEE 802.11 standard. The mobility management is one of the critical operations of any 802.11 network. In this paper we propose an assistive system that can improve the re-association mechanism which takes place when a mobile device roams in a mesh network. This is an empirical study of our proposed handoff mechanism, based on a fine grain analyze of the TCP behavior in a network enhanced with this assistive system.
