Abstract :
A lot of cutting fluid in metal cutting process causes environmental pollution and increases the manufacturing cost. Control of cutting fluid is one of the serious problems that the modern manufacturing technology faces with. This paper describes in brief the development tendency of cutting fluid and its limitations. The mechanism about pulse waveform generated by ultrasonic vibration cutter is studied, and experiments have been carried out by using of dry cutting. The experimental results indicate that the cutting temperature is close to room temperature, and the tool wear is lower. Dry cutting without cutting fluid is the real sense green cutting technique.
