Abstract
Network protocols and architectures are a crucial component in the computer network curricula. Demonstration based on the simulation tools can be of great help for a better understanding of this curricula. This paper describes a computer network simulating and teaching system (CNSTNS), which is based on the NS-2, and able to fully simulate the topologies and traffic patterns of large scale networks. It also demonstrates the capabilities and usefulness of the simulator with case studies. Finally, based on our experiences using the system, ire summarize some guidelines for network simulation, and present further work.
