Abstract :
In this paper, a phased array designed for millimeter-wave mobile handset is demonstrated. The low profile antenna array is capable of covering a quarter of the entire space with 11dBi peak gain when beam is electronically steered. Four such arrays on each side of the mobile device would provide full spatial coverage. The antenna design is based on waveguide structure and allows for an all metallic mobile phone case when integrated. The specific antenna presented in this paper is designed around 28GHz with 2GHz bandwidth for the future Samsung 5G cellular system.
