Abstract
This paper describes an experimental approach for finding the radar cross section (RCS) of human heartbeats and respiratory movements. A measurement setup, a calibration routine and required processing steps are presented. Using a 2-3GHz Ultra Wideband (UWB) radar, heartbeats and respiration of a human subject were recorded from a distance of 1.14m. Combining the recorded data to measurements with a calibration sphere, the calibrated human heartbeat and respiration RCS was detected.
