Abstract :
An improved model for the calculation of high frequency resistance of windings that show an arbitrary conductor distribution within the available window space is presented. The new formula, which is extracted after an extensive process of Finite Element Analysis simulations, followed by statistical treatment of the results, is verified by experimental measurements on windings wound over cores with circular as well as rectangular center pole. In this way an easily applicable tool is offered to help the optimization of magnetic components when non-layered coils are used.
