Abstract
The lipophilic copper nanoparticles were synthesized by surface modification method to improve their dispersion stability in oils or hydrophobic organic media. The nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and infrared spectrometer (IR). Oil-based nanofluids were then prepared. Thermal conductivity of the nanofluids has been investigated. The nanofluids with the lipophilic copper nanoparticles have clearly higher values of thermal conductivity than the base fluid does.
