Abstract :
Conductimetry was employed to investigate the precipitation polymerization of acrylamide/methacrylic acid (AAm/MAA) in ethanol (EtOH) by using V-65 as initiator. The conductivity change of AAm/MAA-EtOH-V65 vs. time as well as the effects of imitator concentration monomer ratio and monomer concentration was studied. It was observed that the conductivity increased sharply when the polymerization starting. After the nucleation time, the slope of the conductivity-time curve changes to a smaller value. The induction period time is shorter while the monomer or the initiator concentration increased.
