Abstract
This paper introduces a design of a mobile LTE handset antenna based on the theory of characteristic modes (TCM). The investigated hybrid coupling element enables both the inductive and capacitive excitation of different modes. As a result a wider impedance band can be matched compared to a purely capacitive coupling element.
