  • Abstract
    A new millimeter-wave (MMW), frequency-selective surface (FSS) unit-cell is presented. The reflection and transmission characteristics of the proposed FSS structure are investigated. Results show that by using only one PIN diode in each unit-cell, the transmissive/reflective bands can be altered. The proposed FSS is then incorporated as in MMW aperture-coupled dielectric resonator (DR) antenna to achieve beam steering and pattern diversity. By sequentially biasing the diodes, beam steering can be achieved along the entire azimuth plane. Moreover, by configuring the states of the diodes, directional and Omni-like patterns can be obtained.
