Abstract
The proposal, concept and essence of the low-carbon economy are briefly described in this article. The development and current situation of low-carbon economy is expounded in detail from three aspects of the background of low-carbon economy, the four stages of the development of the world\´s greenhouse gas emission reduction activities (the subscription of "the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change", "Kyoto Protocol", " Bali Road Map" and "Copenhagen"), and the world development trend of low-carbon economy. Then from which the chemical industry is the relation in the revolution of science and technology, the chemical industry plays an important role in low-carbon economy and other aspects, the relationships between the modern technological revolution, the chemical industry technological revolution and the development of low-carbon economy are in further discussion.
